HYBRID BATTERY ELECTRIC FAST FERRY:

In parallel with the delivery of the newly built M/S “Frey” to Norled AS, Oma Baatbyggeri has signed a contract with Norled on Thursday 26 January 2023 for the delivery of a hybrid battery-electric fast ferry. The boat will operate between Trondheim and Vanvikan in Trøndelag.

The boat is based on Oma Baatbyggeri’s previous fast ferry design and will have the capacity to carry 140 passengers.

The vessel joins a series of vessels delivered from Oma Baatbyggeri to Norled, which will own and operate the vessel.

The boat is supplied with hybrid battery-electric propulsion systems and must therefore be equipped with a battery exchange system, which enables the boats to operate with zero emissions of CO2 and 100% electric operation on the route that it will be service.

The boat is built in seawater-resistant aluminium, a building material that is 100% recyclable. The strong but light construction material is optimal when building speedboats.

The passenger capacity is 140, service speed is 23 knots, and the length of the vessel is 28 metres.

With this order, Oma Baatbyggeri ensures a good level of activity until spring 2024.
