New vessel for offshore wind parks

Oma Baatbyggeri AS and Offshore Windservice A/S have signed a contract for the construction of a 32 meters SWATH (Small Waterplane Area Twin Hull) Crew transfer vessel.

The first vessel is to sail under Danish flag. The vessel is a special vessel for transporting service personell for offshore wind turbines and it is specially designed in cooperation with main owner – Odfjell Wind AS in Bergen. The Vessel (s) shall operate in the North Sea offhore wind turbine market. The contract has been signed with an option agreement for another two vessels.

The wind turbine market is new to us, and therefore very exciting. The special feature of the vessel is that it is the first of its kind that combines high speed (service speed up to 35 knots) with the lower hull can be lowered by 1.5 meters below sea level, which significantly reducing movements, ensuring transfer of personnel between vessels and wind turbines in high seas
